PC gaming weak due to conflict of interests

There have been much discussion about why PC gaming is on the downside in recent years, from blaming piracy to expensive pc gaming hardware and more, all are good points but I have another possible cause.

Conflict of interest, if you look at today's consoles, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony Playstation 3 you willl find companies that are in the PC business as well as in the gaming console business.

Here I will write what I think could be undermining gaming on the PC.

Microsoft, gaming on the PC has been successful thanks to the popularity of DOS and then Windows which is a porduct of Microsoft, but Microsoft is the maker of the Xbox 360 and this Xbox division is working hard to get games exlucisve to the Xbox 360, so exclusive that even the PC doesn't have a version. Now why Microsoft would shoot it's own foot, PC's have been known for years to be a growing gaming platform, why would Microsoft work to hurt this when they make deals to bring games only to the Xbox 360 and not to the PC?

Nvidia, the maker of PC video cards also provides Sony the GPU for the PS3, so it is Nvidia interest that Sony sells a lot of PS3 because that will give Nvidia a lot of money directly from Sony, this makes Nvidia care less about their PC video card business which might be harder to get stable profits from, Nvidia has a program called "The way it was ment to be played" which Nvidia use to make developers make their titles work best on Nvidia video cards, since the Playstation 3 came out Nvidia has been focusing much less on this program, Nvidia care less about bringing titles for the PC.

ATI, another maker of PC video cards is the company that sells Microsoft the GPU for the Xbox 360, ATI probably gets a nice stable income from every Xbox 360 sold, why should ATI bother trying to bring games for the PC?

Personally, despite all this, I still prefer the PC to a console.

I never understood this tactic either. For example why no Halo 3 for PC? It would have sold millions. I guess M$ wants 360 exclusives ( so people buy the console even if they have a PC ) really really really really badly.
