Steve Jobs has written his Thought on Flash, about how Flash is not an open standard and is wasting system resources especially on a handheld device such as the iPhone. I agree with everything Steve Jobs said about Flash, this technology has become annoying as much as it was useful, today Flash is being used for many of the annoying advertisements that make a loud noise when the cursor moves over them.
However, everything Steve Jobs wrote about Flash can be said about Quicktime and worse, when you install Quicktime you get tons of software running on your computer that you don't need, it comes with Apple update software that runs all the time in the background wasting memory and bandwidth, then it tries to push the Safari browser.
Quicktime itself is a horrible media player, it is heavy, clumsy media player that wastes a lot of memory and doesn't support a lot of media formats like VLC media player.
I don't have Quicktime installed on my machine and when I go to Apple website I find it funny they require you to install Quicktime if you want to watch their latest ads or why should you switch to a Mac, and I think it's bad that the default format for Hollywood trailers is Quicktime, they need to have high quality version for both Windows Media Player and Quicktime.
So Steve, before you critize Flash, clean up the mess that's called Quicktime, especially on your own apple website where every video requires it, make your website fully HTML 5 and then we'll see if it is as good as you say it is.
