Sometimes for the fun of it, When I played Battlefield 2 as the Commander I would begin to say in chat before the end of the round that everyone should put down their weapons and begin a peace negotiations.
I tried to see if anyone would actually listen and if it is possible to tell all the players in a pub server to just stop everything they are doing and just hold still and stop the war.
I thought one of the problems in accomplishing this is the lack of tool to make it more clear that it is possible to change the course of events in the game.
This is a very similar theory to real wars, would soldiers of both sides during a battle actually be able to stop the fightings and killings and make peace.
Battlefield 3 could use this as a fun easter egg, to have the ability to vote for a peace or a cease fire in the middle of the game if enough players vote yes then the round will end in neither win or loss.
Think out of the box, take Diablo 2 as an example, it had the "Secret Cow Level as an undocumented (at first) easter egg, it also has the Chat Gem in the battle.net chat that when clicked says "gem activated" "gem deactivated"
These kind of little perks help make the game have longer shelf life.
After you have played a game for a long time and have done everything you can in it you will appreciate little jokes and side kicks laughs.
Battlefield already has a good squad structure for infantry, a squad leader and members who can go together, communicate with VOIP and set targets.
Same should be applied to Jets and Helicopters.
The idea is that once you enter a jet you automatically joined to a Jet squad so you can immediately have VOIP with the other Jet pilots and you also get notifications when they are engaged by enemy pilots.
FYI, real airforce never sends a lone aircraft, they always fly in at least a pair of two, a leader and a wing man.
Flying in formation was missing in Battlefield 2, most of the time pilots didn't fly in formation, they didn't watch each other back and didn't bomb together for greater damage.
Hopefully Battlefield 3 will have more than 2 jets per team which will make this even more of a necessity.
